Eastedge Mahjong
Privacy Policy
The short version
- No ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell your information.
- You can play without signing up. The app makes an anonymous account so your progress is saved.
- We collect what we need to run and improve the app: your progress, your purchases, how the app is used, and crash reports.
- Email us any time and we will delete your account or stop collecting usage data from it.
Eastedge Mahjong is in testing
This policy covers the test versions of Eastedge Mahjong and the features we are adding before release. Some of what it describes, such as purchases, Sign in with Apple and leaderboards, may not be in the version you have yet. We will update this page before the app is released.
What the app collects
An anonymous account
The first time you open the app, it creates an account for you without asking for your name or email. The account is identified by a random number the app makes when it is installed. It is not your device's advertising identifier.
Sign in with Apple, if you choose it
When the app offers it, you can sign in with Apple so your progress follows you to a new device. Apple then gives us an identifier for you and, if you choose to share it, your email address or a private relay address Apple creates. We never receive your Apple password.
A display name, if you set one
Leaderboards show a display name you choose.
Your progress
The chapters you finish, your results, your settings and the record of each game (the deal and the moves) are saved on your device and in your account.
Purchases
Apple handles payment, and we never see your card details. We receive the purchase itself: which product, when it started, and when it renews or ends.
Usage data
The app sends us events about how it is used, such as a chapter started or finished, a game finished and its settings, and when the Plus screen was shown. We use them to see where learners get stuck and to improve the app. They are tied to your anonymous account, not to your name.
Crash reports
If the app crashes or hits an error, it may send a report with the device model, the iOS and app versions, and what the app was doing, so we can fix it.
Approximate location
When the app signs in to its servers, our account provider records your approximate location (country and region) from your internet address. The app does not use GPS or ask for your location.
Reports and emails you send
If you report a problem or email us, we receive what you send.
What we never collect
Your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, precise location, or advertising identifier. The app contains no advertising software, does not ask to track you, and does not follow you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use it
To run the app (save your progress and restore your purchases), to improve it (find confusing lessons and fix crashes), and to answer you when you write to us. We do not sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it to build an advertising profile.
Who handles it for us
These companies process information for us under contracts that limit them to providing their service:
| Service | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Azure PlayFab | Accounts, saved progress, leaderboards, usage data | Your anonymous account, Apple identifier if linked, display name, progress, usage events, approximate location |
| RevenueCat | Purchases and subscriptions | Your account id and your purchase history from Apple |
| Sentry | Crash reports | Crash and error reports with device and app details |
| Apple | Payment, Sign in with Apple, TestFlight | Handled under Apple's own privacy policy |
| Google Workspace | Our email | Messages you send us |
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of our company, in which case this policy continues to apply to it.
TestFlight
If you test the app through TestFlight, Apple may collect crash reports, basic usage information and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send, and share them with us so we can fix problems. Apple handles that information under its own privacy policy and the TestFlight terms.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and progress until you ask us to delete them, and usage data and crash reports only as long as we need them to improve the app and fix problems. Apple keeps its own record of anything you buy.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account, or stop usage data: email us. Later versions add both to the app's Settings.
- See, correct or delete your information: email us, and we will answer within 45 days.
If you live in California or another state with a consumer privacy law, you have the right to know what we collect, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for advertising. We do not sell or share it that way. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Children
Eastedge Mahjong is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, email us and we will delete the account.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and its effective date first.
